Although we are not able to attend the celebration of Mass at this time due to the ongoing public health emergency, our Parish continues to have the monthly expenses of payroll, utilities, maintenance of buildings and grounds, and vendor accounts. Our continued financial support is critical in providing for our Parish, community, and the Poor.  I ask you to faithfully send your regular Offertory envelopes. The Rectory address is 824 Pershing Drive, Silver Spring, Maryland 20910. I continue to recommend the alternative of eGiving.

In addition, many of our brothers and sisters are experiencing adverse economic consequences. Parishioners suffering through short-term difficulties have been able to turn to us for assistance with their critical needs.  I ask that those who are in a position to be generous with their time, talent, and treasure do so.  Many of you have shared with me your extravagant acts of charity.  May all that you do continue to give glory to God.  As always, be assured of a place in our prayers and, again, do not waste this season of Lent.  For all that you are and all that you do, thank you. Remember to pray for all healthcare providers.

Due to the unprecedented events related to the COVID-19 outbreak, it is important to remember the most vulnerable in our community, especially the elderly and/or homebound. If you know of any elderly or homebound neighbors, please feel free to send their names, addresses, and contact info to the St. Michael's Ministry for the Poor at [email protected] and we will try our best to help them in whatever way we can.  

Shepherd's Table has requested donations of single-serve drinks (e.g. juice boxes, cans of soda, water bottles), while Adventist Community Services (ACS) is in desperate need of hygiene products (e.g. soap, hand sanitizer, surgical or food handling gloves).  Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:

• St. Michael's Rectory (Mon - Fri: 9am - 4:45pm) - 824 Pershing Dr
• Shepherd's Table (Mon - Fri: 8:30am - 5:30pm & Weekends: 1pm - 5:30pm) - 8106 Georgia Ave
• ACS (Mon - Thurs: 9am - 5pm) - blue drop boxes at 501 Sligo Ave or behind Sligo Adventist Church on Greenwood Ave).

Financial donations can also be made by visiting the St. Michael's website and will be used to provide bag lunches for the poor in our community.

So Others May Eat (SOME) will not currently accept homemade casseroles. If you would like to still support SOME, Fr. John Adams has provided the following information:

• Donate money to SOME by mailing checks to support their breakfasts and lunches still being provided at SOME
