St. Michael the Archangel Crafts Ministry, a living, faith-based ministry under the patronage of St. Joseph dedicated to prayer, apostolic life, outreach and evangelization, invites you to join us in handcrafting cloth face masks during, and after, the coronavirus pandemic. The CDC is now recommending that everyone wear a cloth mask in situations where social distancing is difficult (e.g. grocery stores, pharmacies). Wearing a mask will help reduce the spread from non-symptomatic people who are infected and not aware.
The face masks will be given to, and for, the protection of the homeless, the elderly, and to protect healthcare providers and others who work overtime to keep us safe, healthy and fed.
You don't need a sewing machine to make a cloth face mask; however, if you have one, this is a wonderful time to put it to use. There are "no-sew" options available, too. Several suggested tutorials are:
Masks can be dropped off at the St. Michael's Rectory and placed in the Crafts Ministry's mailbox. Donations of bandanas and interfacing would be appreciated, too.
Thank you and Stay healthy. We are in this together!
