Monsignor's Letter on Stewardship

Dear Parishioners,
“Consider this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work… The one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You are being enriched in every way for all generosity, which… produces thanksgiving to God… You are glorifying God through the generosity of your contributions.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-8,10,11,13
In his second letter to the Church of Corinth, St. Paul invites us to prayerfully reflect on our own attitudes toward giving. Am I a cheerful giver? Do I sow bountifully? Do I trust in God and have faith that He will provide for my material needs? Do I give generously of my time, talent, and treasure so as to glorify God and give Him thanks?
Guided by the Holy Spirit, St. Michael the Archangel Church brings the Parish and community closer to the Lord through worship, love, and stewardship, so that all may be one in Christ. This is our mission at St. Michael’s, and stewardship – recognizing that everything we have and everything we are is a gift from God and being generous with those gifts – is a central part of our faith journey.
Today, I invite you to participate fully in our Take the Next Step Offertory Renewal initiative. Let us examine our commitment to generously share the time, talent, and treasure with which God has blessed us.
- TIME: How much time do I return to God in prayer, worship, adoration, study of scripture, and service?
- TALENT: With what gifts have I been blessed by God? Do I have a talent for music, public speaking, technology, writing, teaching, evangelizing, finance, or administration? How can I share my talents more generously in doing God’s work in this world? (1 Cor 12:27-31)
- TREASURE: Do I financially contribute to the church on a regular basis? Am I giving out of my excess or out of my need (Mark 12:41-44)? Can I give 10% more to help the parish meet its financial obligations?
I thank you for your enormous generosity over the years as we have worked together to overcome the effects of the world on our community of worship. I pray that through personal reflection on stewardship, we each find our own way to reconnect with and recommit to St. Michael the Archangel parish this year and beyond.

“Sepan que el que siembra mezquinamente, tendrá una cosecha muy pobre; en cambio, el que siembra con generosidad, cosechará abundantemente. Que cada uno dé conforme a lo que ha resuelto en su corazón, no de mala gana o por la fuerza, porque Dios ama al que da con alegría. Por otra parte, Dios tiene poder para colmarlos de todos sus dones, a fin de que siempre tengan lo que les hace falta, y aún les sobre para hacer toda clase de buenas obras… El que da al agricultor la semilla y el pan que lo alimenta, también les dará a ustedes la semilla en abundancia, y hará crecer los frutos de su justicia. Así, serán colmados de riquezas y podrán dar con toda generosidad; y esa generosidad… se transformará en acciones de gracias a Dios (2 Corintios 9, 6-8. 10. 11).
En su segunda carta a la Iglesia de Corinto, San Pablo nos invita a reflexionar en oración sobre la actitud que tenemos a la hora de dar de nuestros bienes. ¿Doy yo con alegría? ¿Siembro con generosidad? ¿Confío en Dios y tengo fe en que él satisfará mis necesidades materiales? ¿Doy de mi tiempo, mi talento y mi tesoro con generosidad para glorificar a Dios y agradecerle por sus bendiciones?
La Iglesia de San Miguel Arcángel, guiada por el Espíritu Santo, lleva a la Parroquia y a la comunidad más cerca del Señor mediante la liturgia de adoración, el amor y la gestión fiduciaria de los bienes, para que todos seamos uno en Cristo. Esta es nuestra misión en San Miguel, y reconociendo que todo lo que tenemos y todo lo que somos son dones de Dios y que hemos de ser generosos con esos dones, la gestión fiduciaria es un elemento fundamental de nuestra peregrinación de fe.
Hoy, le invito a participar cabalmente en nuestra iniciativa “Demos el próximo paso” para la renovación del ofertorio reflexionando honestamente hasta qué punto está usted comprometido a compartir con los demás dando generosamente del tiempo, el talento y el tesoro con que Dios le ha bendecido.- TIEMPO: ¿Cuánto tiempo le dedico a Dios en la oración, la Liturgia, la adoración, el estudio de la Sagrada Escritura y el servicio?
- TALENTO: ¿Con qué dones me ha bendecido Dios? ¿Tengo talento para la música, hablar en público, usar la tecnología, redactar textos, enseñar, evangelizar, ser tesorero o administrar bienes o actividades? ¿Cómo puedo compartir mis talentos con más generosidad para hacer la obra de Dios en este mundo? (1 Corintios 12, 27-31)
- TESORO: ¿Contribuyo económicamente a la iglesia con regularidad? ¿Doy solo cuando tengo de sobra o también cuando me significa un sacrificio (Marcos 12, 41-44)? ¿Puedo dar un 10% más para ayudar a la parroquia a cubrir sus obligaciones financieras?
