The Sodality thanks the parish for your outstanding support of the Sodality's efforts over the summer of 2024. We are overjoyed to share with you some highlights of our recent activities.
• Novena in Honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary: From August 6-14, parishioners joined with the Sodality to seek Mary’s intercession for our needs and intentions on this Solemnity of the Church. We commemorated that Our Lady, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heaven.
• “Summer Cool-Down Soup and Empanada Meal”: Making an encore appearance, this year’s opportunity provided the enhancements of a summer Sodality Bake Sale and Jewelry Boutique. The meal offered gazpacho soup, an empanada, and brownie, all homemade. An array of baked goods and a unique jewelry table rounded out the day. After expenses, your support brought in funds of $1,250 for the charitable works of the Sodality and the Knights of Columbus.
• “Back-to-Back School Pack” Campaign: On Sunday, August 11, Sodalists distributed 122 backpacks packed with school supplies to parish families for kindergarten and first grade children. The backpacks were particularly appealing due to the amazing variety of colors and themes to choose from. The children’s faces were filled with delight.
• Sodality Newsletter, June 2024 Issue: This dynamic, attractive, and enjoyable publication is shared on the parish website. Additionally, printed copies of this issue made an appearance in the church vestibule where they quickly picked up. Thanks to Sodalist Editor Janice Hamilton Outtz and her mighty team of reporters, the Sodality Newsletter has made available the inside scoop on Sodality initiatives to the Greater Glory of God.
• Annual Sodality Communion Brunch in Honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary: On Sunday, May 5, the parish warmly greeted the return of this longstanding event to the Williamsburg Room after the pandemic. As keynote speaker, Monsignor Tolentino encouraged all to share their witness story of how Mary has made a difference in their lives. The Sodality presented awards for outstanding parish service to:
David Bludis (Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus)
Tim Miller (Scoutmaster, Boy Scout Pack)
Jason Moore (Crossing Guard)
Jonathan Navas (Religious Education Coordinator)
Darrell Smith (Parish Green Team).
We appreciate the Filipino community who led the way with a phenomenal turnout of guests and taking raffle tickets for the Sodality Baskets. Song and music by Victoria Williams and Antonio James, a well-appointed buffet, and the uplifting community spirit helped to make the occasion an unforgettable experience.
