A prayer intention uniquely for our times is requested by Pope Francis for the month of November 2020 – “Artificial Intelligence: We pray that the progress of robotics and artificial intelligence may always serve humankind.” The Sodality with our fellow parishioners make a mighty prayer team for Pope Francis, especially when praying the Rosary! Remember to use brief moments to pray a Mystery of the Rosary, while standing (six feet apart) in a line at the store or when placed on hold for a call to customer service. The Rosary is an ideal way to remind us of Mary’s graces during the day as she helps us to “do whatever He tells you.”
The Sodality also encourages our parish family to pause and reflect on the month of November as a valuable time to pray the Rosary for additional special intentions. All Saints Day is a solemnity set aside by the Church to honor saints known and unknown, and is celebrated November 1st.
In addition, this month is designated as Black Catholic History Month by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. This is an opportunity to ask Our Blessed Mother to intercede for the cause for Sainthood of six black Catholic Americans: Servant of God Sister Thea Bowman, Venerable Father Augustus Tolton, Servant of God Mother Mary Lange, Servant of God Julia Greeley, Venerable Pierre Toussaint, and Venerable Henriette Delille.
Read about their extraordinary lives of devotion and service, as well as
the process leading to canonization in the Catholic Church. When canonized, with the help of our prayers, they will be the first black American saints. As Vatican II declared about the saints, “God . . . speaks to us in them and offers us a sign of this kingdom to which we are powerfully attracted, so great a cloud of witnesses is there given and such a witness to the truth of the Gospel.”
An additional way to pray the Rosary during November is to offer our prayers in commemoration of All Souls Day on November 2nd. Every year on this day we pray especially for our departed family members and loved ones. This important day and the entire month is a perfect occasion to pray the Rosary for this special intention while meditating on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, with Mary as our companion and Mother.
The Sodality continues to pray the Rosary as a community on Saturdays at 9:15 a.m. The conference call telephone number is 605-562-0400, access code 1941905. You have a standing invitation.
