Guidelines for Blessing of Throats and Ash Wednesday

We would like to inform parishioners of the following guidelines provided by the Archdiocese of Washington for this weekend for the Blessing of Throats for the Feast of St. Blaise and Ash Wednesday.
To minimize individual contact, priests will bless the entire assembly from the sanctuary for the blessing of throats. Individuals will not come up to the altar.
For Ash Wednesday as modeled by Pope Francis, priests will sprinkle ashes above each individual’s head so that immediate physical contact is avoided.
